Samsung Galaxy Xcover review

Samsung Galaxy Xcover is a interesting, durable and special smartphone. The phone suits perfectly to people that do extreme sports, travel, work in e.g construction or just don't want to be afraid of carrying the phone with you everywhere. This is maybe the best thing about the phone, it's solid and it wont let you down.

The design reminds me of the earlier Samsung durable phones, such as the Samsung 271. Even though the solid and rough material, the phone still looks good!

The sixe of the screen is 3,65" with 320 x 480 pixels (HVGA) Resolution). The size is good but the quality of the screen could have been better. The colors and specially the text in for example websites turns out to be a little bit blur comparing to the cheaper Samsung Galaxy Gio.

The phone works smoothly with Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The battery which have 13,3 hours of talking-time on GSM (11h with 3G) works well even in cold circumstances here in Finland :)

About the camera... The fact that the Samung Galaxy Xcover have only 3mp camera suprised me in a quite negative way. I thought that a phone that is buildt to last for people that are always "on-the-go" should have a great camera with which you store all those great fast-action moments, but no. The quality of the pictures is not satisfying in my opinion but it's only my opinion. On the other hand, the editing software in the Xcover is pleasant to use!

The amount of applications available is very satisfying thanks to Android market. You most likely find almost everything you need. One useful app is Sports tracker which finally is available also for Android-based phones!

Overall the Samsung Galaxy Xcover is a great choice if you live a lifestyle full of adventures or just want to be sure you wont need to take your phone to get fixed after everytime you drop it. If you just want a smartphone that looks pretty and suits your outfit, check out the iPhone 4S...
