14 years of leadership ended
In the first quarter of this year, Samsung outsold Nokia and became the worlds biggest phone producer.
Samsung sold 88 million phones in the first quarter compared to Nokia's 83 million.

Nokia have been struggling in the last time, specially in the smartphone area. One reason why Nokia is still a very big mobile phone producer is the low-end phone models that are still selling quite good.
When we talk about who is the biggest producer, volume is obviously what matters. From Nokia's PR point of view losing the first place might be a issue but according to specialists the problems stays the same. In the other hand, Samsung is entering a even more successful era, let's see how long its going to last.

In the result of October-Decemeber '11 Nokia succeeded to remain as the biggest cellphone manufacturer in the world.
Samsung had a very good year thanks to their smartphones, which made the difference between top manufacturer Nokia and Samsung only 4%. This news only tells about the size of the manufacturer and it's not directly related to how good the manufactured phones sold on the market.
